Course Overview

Every organisation stores and uses data on a daily basis. Data forms part of a business's core function and includes personal information received from third parties, customers and employees. Data can be stored on-site, off-site at an independent service provider’s premises or in the cloud. It is your responsibility to ensure that the data in your care, especially sensitive information, is secure.

This course focuses on the protection of the personal information in your possession, ways in which the security of that information might become threatened and how to ward off cyber-attacks.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

• Understand what cyber security is
• Define personal information
• List cyber security threats
• Identify your responsibilities to minimise cyber security threats
• Discuss the steps you must take when there is a breach
• Determine when a mandatory notification must be made
• Discuss the minimum requirements a Software as a Service (SaaS) provider should meet to provide sufficient security
