Armed Robbery Survival Skills

Armed robberies are often very brief events; however, they can have a significant impact on the health, safety and welfare and of workers and customers. 

 

This course is aimed at increasing awareness of the likelihood of an armed robbery occurring. It also provides guidelines for how to behave before, during and after such an incident to reduce the risk to health and safety.

 

Completing this module will help to reduce the risk of serious trauma or harm caused from an armed robbery and will also allow workers to provide comprehensive information to the police about the robber(s) and the incident. 

 

 

 

• How the organisation reduces the risk of an armed robbery occurring;

• What to do during an armed robbery;

• Observing the robber’s appearance and means of departure;

• What to do immediately after an armed robbery;

• Traumatic reactions after an armed robbery. 

 

 

At the completion of this course, learners should be able to:

 

• Identify suspicious events prior to an armed robbery;

• Describe how to behave during an armed robbery to reduce the risk of serious harm to themself and others;

• Explain what to do immediately after an armed robbery;

• Assist the police during their investigation;

• Identify the effects of armed robberies and explain where and how to seek professional assistance.
