First aid is the initial care provided to someone who has suddenly fallen ill or who has been injured, until more advanced care can be provided or until the person recovers. Individuals who are trained in first aid hold a valuable role in reducing the severity of injury or illness in the workplace.
This course provides learners with a broad overview of the most common types of injuries that occur in the workplace, and the type of immediate treatment that should be provided. It does not, however, qualify the learner as a first aid officer. In order to obtain an accredited certificate, they must also be assessed in the practical competencies of first aid during a face-to-face course.
